Before you read
This book was a story that almost made it into the Book Week finalists in 2006.
It's a good one for us to read, because it shows us how important Kakadu is to the people, both past and present who live there. It is a significant part of Australia that many people want to visit and experience. It helps us to better understand why we need to look after it and preserve it.
Kakadu is National Park - that means it is protected so that it remains the way it is. It is one of Australia's natural places that is iconic to our country.
